The Learning Curve for the Direct Anterior Approach
Few joint replacement surgeons were exposed to the direct anterior approach for total hip arthroplasty during their residencies and fellowships – which means they’ll need additional training if they want to offer it to their patients.
What can they expect during the learning curve for the direct anterior approach? To find out, we asked 3 experienced surgeons – Hari P. Bezwada, MD, from Princeton Orthopaedic Associates, Princeton, New Jersey; Tyler D. Goldberg, MD, Texas Orthopedics, Austin, Texas; and Lee E. Rubin, MD, from University Orthopedics, Providence, Rhode Island – to reflect on their experiences in learning the direct anterior approach.
