Managing Acetabular Bone Loss in Revision THA

Acetabular bone loss remains one of the challenges of revision total hip athroplasty (THA).

It’s important, says Charles L. Nelson, MD, from the University of Pennsylvania, to find good bone to get fixation. A hemispherical cup may be all that’s needed, if the acetabular component was carefully removed, but augments are available if the bone loss is too great.

Dr. Nelson discusses managing acetabular bone loss in an interview exclusive to ICJR.net.
