Latarjet as a Salvage Procedure in Shoulder Dislocation

Stephen C. Weber, MD, from, Orthopedic Specialists of Sacramento in California, is rather conservative in determining which patients might benefit from a Latarjet procedure. He prefers doing an arthroscopic Bankart procedure for patients with shoulder dislocations because it allows for better functional outcomes.

But when a young, active patient presents with recurrent shoulder dislocation and profound bone loss, he’ll consider a Latarjet as a salvage procedure. Because he has been so careful with patient selection, he has not seen the serious complications that other surgeons report in the literature.
