    Total Knee Arthroplasty Wound Closure: From Staples to Jones Dressing
    Giles R. Scuderi, MD

    With the advent of rapid discharge programs for joint replacement patients, it is important to keep in mind the basic requirements for wound closure: safe technique, watertight closure, and healing without complications.

    Persistent Wound Drainage
    John W Barrington, MD

    “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure,” says Dr. John Barrington, noting that prolonged wound drainage after TJA is associated with as much as a 12.5 times higher risk that the patient will develop a deep infection.
