A Surgeon’s 15 Years of Experience with Outpatient Arthroplasty

Outpatient arthroplasty is one of the hottest topics in orthopaedic surgery right now, and numerous lectures, papers, and posters addressed this issue at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ 2015 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

Richard A. Berger, MD, from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, has been releasing his joint arthroplasty patients the same day as surgery for nearly 15 years. At the Annual Meeting, he participated in an Instructional Course Lecture (“Outpatient Arthroplasty: Same Day, Home Safe, ICL 363) and a symposium (“Outpatient Arthroplasty is Here Now,” Symposium O) on same-day surgery in joint arthroplasty.
